When clients think of fillers like Botox and Juvederm, they often shudder at the thought of being repeatedly stuck with a needle. Is it painful? Will it leave scars? Will there be swelling? These are some of the top questions asked. But Does Beauty Have to Mean Pain? In the past, many of us have heard the term “no pain no gain”. Now this doesn’t have to be the case with new and improved methods to maintain beauty. Microcannula filler injections promise a less painful approach to getting noninvasive cosmetic procedures done, like fillers in the form of Juvederm, Restylane, Botox and others. What Is It And How Does It Work? The pain we feel from needles doesn’t necessarily occur from the surface point. This pain surfaces when needles penetrate deep into the layers of the skin. To counteract this, experts now make a small entryway from the surface, and then insert a smaller, duller and hollowed microcannula needle to inject the filler. The cannulas are characterized by fine and flexible tubes that can be inserted at the puncture marks of traditional needles. Each target area for fillers will require between one and five entryways to get the best results. These results usually mean plump and more youthful looking skin. Microcannulas are furthermore adapted for processes like Liposuction to minimize the risks of scarring and pain. Benefits of Microcannula Injections: ~Lowered risk of bleeding and more rapid recovery times. ~Lowered risk of pain and discomfort during and after the filler injections. ~Lowered risk of rupturing blood vessels in the face. ~Lowered risk of surrounding tissues becoming damaged from repeat injections. ~No local anesthesia is required before or during the process. Benefits of Fillers Most popular fillers provide the following benefits: ~Increase cheek volume ~Remove fine lines and wrinkles ~Remove under eye circles ~Reverse other signs of aging Fillers can be painful nevertheless, due to the areas usually targeted. The lips for instance are more delicate than other areas of the body due to thin skin. Microcannulas nevertheless, revolutionize the process, and to ensure no pain, the surgeon may still prescribe medicines for relief. When it comes to noninvasive methods of reversing and/or preventing the signs of aging, fillers come in on the top tier of effective lists – even though injections are administered. Ultimately, microcannula fillers are considered to be a more sane and practical method to look beautiful – in the least invasive way possible.

Are You Curious about Facial Fillers or Dermal Fillers? Facial fillers originally evolved as collagen injections.  Fillers for the face focused on smoothing major lines like the laugh lines.  Since then, our understanding of facial anatomy and aging has progressed.  We now understand that aging is more than just lines and wrinkles, but a matter of overall facial volume loss.  As we age we begin to lose fat, muscle and bone in our faces.  This is in addition to the loss of elasticity of our skin.  As as result, not only do we lose volume in our brows and cheeks, but the remaining volume begins to shift downward. Looking at a youthful face, we see most of the volume is in the upper face in the brow and cheeks.  We call this the upside down triangle.  When we look at the aged face, we notice the volume has been lost in the brow and cheeks and has shifted towards the jawline with jowling.  The triangle has been turned right side up! Dermal Fillers So our goal in facial volume restoration with face fillers is to restore some of this upper face fullness.  This will give you far more bang for the buck than just smoothing lines and wrinkles.  Dermal fillers used to fill the brow and cheeks restore youthful appearance far more than filling smile lines. Juvederm We also have many facial fillers to choose from now.  They have progressed to safer and less painful forms with the addition of local anesthetics.  There are the hyaluronic fillers like Juvederm and Restylane which are based on a natural building block of the skin.  They can be used virtually anywhere on the face and can last up to a year.  There are stimulatory synthetic dermal fillers like Radiesse.  Radiesse actually stimulates your own collagen growth and can last over a year.  The ultimate filler for the face is your own fat!  Fat transfer now offers the ability to harvest live fat cells and transfer them to your face.  These are your own cells and are very safe.  Fat is also rich with stem cells that offer the potential for even more rejuvenation.  We can now couple fat transfer with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) or Microneedling with PRP Facelift, to add growth factors that further stimulate stem cell growth and rejuvenation. Microcannulas The other limiting factor with facial fillers has been the need for multiple injections.  Not only is this painful, but each needle stick can cause bleeding and bruising.  We now possess new techniques with microcannulas.  These are blunt, long thin tubes that allow us to inject the dermal fillers through a single injection site.  The comfort and safety of these microcannulas is changing our use of facial fillers. The future of face fillers appears to be moving towards fat transfer and stem cells.  The dermal fillers offer a quicker alternative and are preferred for smoothing lines and wrinkles.  Fat doesn’t have the stiffness necessary to smooth most deep wrinkles, but it is great at overall volume replacement.  If you are interested in facial fillers please come in for a free consultation.  We can discuss your needs as well as all the options available. Perlane in Austin TX

What is Perlane in Austin TX used for? Perlane is used to smooth moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles such as the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds). Perlane generally lasts for about 6 months. It has been found to be a safe dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin. How does Perlane work? Perlane  is injected into the skin with an ultrafine needle. It plumps the skin to smooth away wrinkles and folds. Perlane’s water-loving nature attracts and binds water molecules to help maintain volume. Perlane  is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the body. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane  is a crystal clear gel that is chemically cross-linked (the long chemical strands are tied together) to delay breakdown by skin enzymes. Liquid Face Lift Austin

What is Liquid face Lift? The liquid facelift is a non-surgical procedure which relies on injections of dermal fillers and injectables to achieve results comparable to surgical facelifts. Fillers and other injectables, such as Botox, are used to fill hollows and plump features such as cheeks, to reduce or eliminate lines and wrinkles, and to firm skin, resulting in an overall rejuvenated, more youthful appearance. The basic concept is first to use Botox or Dysport to relax the muscles of facial expression that causes wrinkles. As we can see in the picture, these areas include the frown lines (glabella), crow’s feet, forehead lines, lip lines and several other areas. Utilizing several very small needles, a few painless injections can relax years of expressive lines and wrinkles. The other major component of the liquid face lift is to restore volume and contour. As we age, we gradually lose skin thickness, fat and bone in our faces that causes a sunken and droopy appearance. Luckily we have several tools to restore this volume. Dermal fillers like the hyaluronic acids, Juvederm and Restylane and Perlane, and the stimulatory fillers like Radiesse and Sculptra, are safe and readily available. Almost all of them are now premixed with lidocaine so the injections are much less painful. The fillers can be used to rebuild the cheek bones, fill the areas under the eyes, rebuild the brow and plump the lips. Restoring cheek volume alone can dramatically change your appearance. The filled cheeks can hide under-eye bags, restore the contour of the cheek and provide a lifting effect for the mid-face. The fillers can cause some post-procedure bruising and swelling that will resolve over several days. Becoming even more popular is using fat transfer for filling. Small amounts of fat can be harvested from almost anywhere on the body and transplanted to the face. Besides the natural filling by the fat, the fat is rich in stem cells which retain the ability to transform into other cell types. These stem cells can produce new skin cells, fat cells and maybe even new bone. So fat transfer holds the promise of potentially being a fountain of youth! So the liquid face lift utilizes very safe and easily performed procedures with minimal downtime. Performed in office without the need for any extensive anesthesia. In return, you get a freshened and rejuvenated appearance that can last for years. Since it is considerably cheaper than surgery, it can be repeated multiple times to maintain that youthful appearance! …
