Gynecomastia Surgery Near Me Gynecomastia surgery is sometimes needed in males that have experienced abnormal breast development and growth. It is necessary to know the difference between normal growing stages that sometimes cause temporary breast tissue growth and abnormal growths that develop from other causes. Causes of Male Gynecomastia or Man Boobs Gynecomastia or gyno, can be caused by many different factors. Medication side effects, normal newborn and teenage temporary development, metabolic disorders, decrease of testosterone levels and many other factors may play into abnormal breast growth in males. Typically, a newborn and teenage male will temporarily develop a small breast growth. In newborns, the growth goes away after two months of age, but in teenagers, the growth can take up to two years to disappear. The hormonal changes that newborns and teenagers go through are the causes of these temporary breast development stages. Procedure for Male Breast Reduction There are some forms of gynecomastia that can be treated with simple liposuction, but true gynecomastia needs to be treated by actually making an incision and/or Vaser Liposuction, physically destroying and removing the tissue growth. However common breast reduction surgery is, it is imperative that the patient finds a surgeon who has training and experience with male reduction services. Possibility of Regrowth Unfortunately, it is near impossible for any physician to guarantee that regrowth will not occur. Sometimes, it is possible to be prescribed hormones in order to increase the body’s testosterone levels, but even hormones will not guarantee that the regrowth will not occur. If a physician guarantees that it will not be an issue again, you may want to seek a second opinion. Finding Gynecomastia Surgery Near Me Many males who undergo breast reduction/augmentation surgery want the surgery to be as discreet as possible. It is illegal to give out patient information, but sometimes the clinics are less than subtle about what procedures are generally performed. Many times, an experienced clinic will have a “side entrance” that some patients will prefer. Finding a clinic that is reputable and trustworthy is an important factor in deciding which surgeon to use. If the clinic has reviews that shed a negative light, there is probably a just reason for that. It is always a good idea to research before going in for any procedure. What causes Gynecomastia or Man Boobs? Gynecomastia or Gyno is a condition where the glandular tissues of the male breast become enlarged. Often called man boobs, gynecomastia causes usually result from a hormonal imbalance with an excess of estrogens being produced in relation to androgens, or male hormones. It can also be a side effect of some medications or drug abuse. It is sometimes associated with medical conditions including chronic kidney failure, cirrhosis of the liver, and hyperthyroidism. Who gets Gynecomastia? Gynecomastia is common during infancy, puberty, and in middle to older age men. It should be noted that it is different from lipomastia or pseudogynecomastia, which is the presence of fat deposits in the breasts of men suffering from obesity. True gynecomastia is the result of the growth of the breast tissue or glands. Treating Gynecomastia Gynecomastia that occurs in normal infants and young boys — known as physiologic gynecomastia — usually resolves by itself. Discontinuation of any medication that causes this condition may also resolve gynecomastia. However, once the breast tissues grows, it will generally not reduce or go away. Should gynecomastia persist, one effective method is to remove the breast tissue through gynecomastia surgery. The surgical procedure is called male breast reduction or subcutaneous mastectomy. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia. A tiny incision is made in the areola to hide any scarring, and the tissue is removed either directly and/or with Vaser Liposuction. The incisions are closed and the patient will need to wear a chest binder for a few weeks to ensure proper healing. PseudoGynecomastia In the case of fat deposits causing pseudogynecomastia, liposuction can be used to remove the fat. In these cases, a surgeon can remove the fatty tissues as well as contour the chest areas. There may be some slight discomfort associated with the local anesthesia; however, the procedure is relatively pain free. There is no downtime or long recovery time, so patients may return to their normal routines within just a few days; however, heavy lifting should not be done for about two weeks. The stitches will need to be removed in about one week. Can Gynecomastia Return? During the tissue removal procedure, all breast tissue is removed, so gynecomastia should not return. In the case of pseudogynecomastia caused by fat deposits, this should not return if there is no weight gain. Gynecomastia Treatment

Do you have gynecomastia?  Embarrassing man boobs?   What are the Gynecomastia treatments are available? It is first important to figure out what type of gynecomastia you have.  True gynecomastia or Gyno, is due to actual breast tissue growth usually after exposure to estrogen.  This can happen during puberty or as a result of taking supplements and steroids that convert to estrogen.  Once this breast tissue enlarges, it is hard to get rid of.  Sometimes it resolves but usually it requires some type of intervention  Pseudogynecomastia is due to excess fat on the chest. This can helped by weight loss and liposuction.  Most patients have one or another but many have a combination of the two.  Gynecomastia treatment with Gynecomastia Surgery is safe and effective. Gynecomastia Treatment Whatever the case, gynecomastia or man boobs are very embarrassing and can hurt a man’s self esteem.  Gynecomastia treatment is designed to restore a normal contour to the chest and relieve the patient of his burden.  True gynecomastia requires surgical destruction and/or excision (removal) of the breast tissue with Gynecomastia Surgery.  There is no way to non-invasively remove breast tissue.  Vaser Liposuction can be used to remove fat from the chest and can also be used to remove the breast tissue.  A surgical procedure known as a subcutaneous mastectomy may also be needed.  In a relatively simple surgical procedure under local anesthesia, a small incision is made around the nipple.  The breast tissue is then carefully removed from the surrounding tissue.  This removes the cause of the nipple projection.  If a great deal of fat is present, vaser and laser liposuction can be used to melt the fat.  Liposuction cannulas are then used to suction off the fat and contour the chest.  The result should be a flatter, more masculine chest and better self esteem! Gynecomastia Surgery Austin Recovery from gynecomastia surgery is relatively quick.  The patient goes home numb from the procedure.  Soreness may develop later that is treated with pain medication.  Heavy lifting must be avoided for several weeks and a tight compression band must be worn for at least 3-4 weeks.  Stitches are removed in on week.  There will be swelling for several weeks that resolves with compression, massage, exercise and time. What are Man Boobs? Man boobs or Moobs or medically known as gynecomastia, is a condition of excessive breast tissue growth in men.  It can start when you are younger due to hormonal changes.   It usually resolves in adulthood but can linger on.  In adult men it typically appears after the use of supplements.  Excessive use of steroid hormones allows production of estrogen and the growth of man boobs.   True gynecomastia is due to breast tissue growth that can be identified as a lump right under the nipple.  Sometimes the tissue is tender and can cause significant discomfort.  Men can also develop man boobs as a result of obesity.  The breast has an overall enlarged appearance with stretched out skin.  This is known as pseudogynecomastia and usually lacks the dense tissue under the nipple. Whatever the cause, man boobs or gynecomastia or pseudogyecomastia, is a serious condition for men and boys.  Embarrassment and lack of self esteem can result and some men will never take their shirts off in public.   This can hurt relationships and affect one’s quality of life. How to Lose Man Boobs with Gynecomastia Surgery.* Unfortunately, once the breast tissue has grown, it typically will not resolve.  True gynecomastia requires a cosmetic surgery procedure (subcutaneous mastectomy) to remove the breast tissue under the nipple.  The good thing is that this can be done in-office under local anesthesia.  A saline solution containing lidocaine is instilled into the tissue.  This leads to almost immediate numbness that lasts more than 8-12 hours.  There is no need for general anesthesia or ‘going under’.  Oral or IV sedation is available to help with any anxiety.  As a result, the procedure is very safe and you are back on your feet immediately when the surgery is done. The incision is made in around the border of the areola (brown part) of the nipple and the scarring there is minimal.  After the procedure you have to wear a tight vest for several weeks and avoid heavy lifting.  If the man boobs are due more to fat, then liposuction of the chest will also be necessary.  The fat in the chest is very tough and may require several tools to help remove it.  Smartlipo Liposuction and Vaser Ultrasonic liposuction are used to assist the removal of the fat and can also be used to remove the breast tissue .  The chest wall can be contoured to a more pleasing appearance.  Liposuction can be combined with excision for complete removal of man boobs. The vast majority of the time, the loose skin on the breast will retract naturally after the procedure.  But if it’s excessive, further excision of skin may be necessary for optimal results.   The breast tissue removed can also be sent for pathological examination to look for breast cancer.  Although very rare, men can get breast cancer too.
