What is Laser Liposuction? Liposuction has been around a long time.  It basically involves the use of vacuum cannulas to suction fat from the body.  It has been refined over the years and now is mostly performed while awake using local anesthesia.   The size of the cannulas used has decreased and the emphasis has shifted to body sculpting and contouring.  Loose skin has always been an issue with liposuction.  Typically, you can see at least 50% skin retraction with aggressive liposuction.  But with areas with very loose skin, an excision of skin like a tummy tuck may be necessary.Lasers have been used on the outside of the skin for more than 20 years.  It is well known that when heat is introduced to the skin, it causes tightening and stimulates new collagen formation.  Around 8 years ago, Smartlipo (Smart Liposuction) was introduced to the market.  This was a laser specifically dedicated to laser liposuction.  The laser was used for 3 main effects:skin tightening fat melting cauterization of bleedingThe Smartlipo laser was found to be able to help provide better liposuction results.  Patients showed smoother results and tighter skin as well as less downtime and bruising.  Smartlipo didn’t replace liposuction, but made it better.  It is just another tool in the surgeon’s bag. Does Laser Lipo work? The short answer is yes!  Since the introduction of Smartlipo, many other lasers have been introduced.  The power and wavelengths of these lasers has also evolved.   Stronger power allows more energy to be introduced into the tissues in a shorter time.  The wavelength of light used is important due to what tissues they affect.  The original Smartlipo used 1064nm that mainly affected fat and blood vessels.  1064 is generally considered to be inefficient in melting fat and tightening skin.  Since then, Smartlipo now has the Smartlipo Triplex which adds 1320nm and 1440nm wavelengths.  1320nm is highly absorbed by the skin and connective tissue leading to skin tightening.  The 1440nm wavelength is highly absorbed by fat, making it ideal for melting fat.  So the Smartlipo Triplex combines the laser wavelengths to give the best fat melting, skin tightening and less downtime.Laser Lipo at Beleza Medspa We have performed over 1000 cases of laser liposuction.  We have gone from the original Smartlipo to the powerful Smartlipo Triplex.  We know the limitations of Smartlipo as well as its strengths.   We have found Smartlipo Laser Liposuction ideal for liposuction of the chin and neck.  This area is defined by a small amount of fat and usually some loose skin.  Laser lipo is the ideal tool to melt this fat while causing skin tightening.   We also routinely use the Smartlipo Laser to aid areas that need additional skin tightening.  Aggressive liposuction is always the first step in causing skin retraction.  The laser is then used at the end of the case to add heat to aid skin tightening. What is the Laser Lipo Cost? The good thing is that laser lipo shouldn’t cost you more than regular liposuction.  We include the cost of laser liposuction into all of our surgery quotes.  Our goal is to always provide you the best results with whatever tools we have to utilize. The term Smart Liposuction used to be just about the use of the laser.  We now consider Smart Liposuction to involve awake tumescent anesthesia (safer), use of microcannulas (finer) and the addition of laser lipo (better).  This is state of the art body sculpting and what you should demand from your surgeon.…

Smartlipo is simply a smarter way to fat removal through popular liposuction techniques. How Smartlipo Works:Smartlipo essentially uses laser devices to assist with liposuction. It is otherwise known as laser lipo, or laser assisted lipolysis. Rather than aggressively suctioning fat from dedicated areas, the laser releases thermal energy to melt the fat, which is then gently suctioned.Smartlipo Laser LiposuctionDue to fat coagulation triggered by thermal energy, the skin tightens, and specialists are able to contour the area at the same time.During Smartlipo, patients will remain awake, however tumescent solutions are used to numb the area, and relatively no pain is experienced. After the technique, there’s no recovery time required, so you can go back to everyday activities – with a better body and shape.Smartlipo can be used in a number of areas including the abdomen, thighs, chin, arms, back, knees and more.Laser LiposuctionSome added facts regarding Smartlipo include that it’s been approved by the FDA, making it one of the safest cosmetic procedures today. This is furthermore backed by eight years of rigorous clinical studies.Benefits of Smartlipo:Long-lasting Fat Removal – the results lasts, which means no need to complete repeat sessions. It’s the patient’s duty however to maintain an ideal weight. Sculpt The Body’s Shape – not only are patients losing fat, the body can be sculpted too. Skin Tightening – all too often patients lose weight, only to be left with sagging skin. How would handling two cosmetic issues at the same time sound? Smartlipo allows specialists to remove fat, mold the area, and tighten skin – all at the same time. Multi-Spot Treatment – unlike other types of lipo that require different sessions to complete, many patients are able to lose fat in several sections – simultaneously, and without harm. No Recovery Time – get back to a new normal, meaning the best shape of your life – within a matter of hours. Non-Invasive and Pain Free – there are no incisions, and instead micro-punctures are used to get into the area to suction excess fat. Cost-Friendly – if you’ve ever wanted to transform your look but have been unable to do so due to the expenses involved, Smartlipo presents the above benefits, and many others, at a low and accessible cost to you.Ready to get in shape? Smartlipo enjoys a high success rate among patients, so what are you waiting for? Get the body you’ve yearned for in no time.…

Smart Lipo: Laser Liposuction.Smart Lipo is the brand name of a laser used to assist during liposuction.  The laser is designed to add heat to the treated area via a tiny laser fiber.  The light from the laser is absorbed by blood, skin, water and fat as heat.  This heat then causes the desired effects.  The Smart Lipo laser heat absorbed by blood leads to coagulation and less bleeding and bruising.  The laser heat absorbed by the fat cells causes them to melt and allows more fat removal.  The most important effect is caused by the smart lipo heat absorbed by water and skin which leads to skin tightening. How can Smart Lipo help me?Smart Lipo can allow your cosmetic surgeon to give you better results.  Although not a substitute for training and experience, the Smart Lipo laser can significantly improve your outcome.  Studies have shown Smart Lipo patients have faster recoveries with less downtime, bruising and complications.  Furthermore, the application of precise heating allows for better body contouring, smoother results and tighter skin.  Smart Lipo is a powerful tool in the right hands. Is Smart Lipo safe?Smart Liposuction is performed in-office under local anesthesia.  Small incisions are made a lidocaine solution is slowly infused into the fat layer.  This solution produces numbness, prevents bleeding and lifts the fat and skin off the lower layers.  By avoiding general anesthesia, the risks of the procedure are dramatically lowered.  Even more, the lower layers like muscle, nerves, abdominal wall, organs, etc., still have sensation during the procedure.  If the surgeon even comes close to these important structures, the patient would stop the procedure.  This produces an even further layer of safety during the procedure. The Smart Lipo laser produces heat that can cause burns.  In experienced hands, these should be very rare. How do I learn more about Smart Lipo?A consultation with a cosmetic surgeon is necessary when considering Smart Lipo.  Your doctor can assess the amount of fat you need removed as well as the overall looseness of your skin.  Excess amounts of fat or fat inside the abdomen may require weight loss prior to any procedure.  Large amounts of loose skin may require an excision for skin for optimal results.  All of these decisions can be made during your consultation. Smart Lipo Austin TXBeleza Cosmetic Surgeons have performed over 3000 Smart Lipo Laser liposuction procedures.  They are one of the leading Smart Lipo Austin providers.  They possesses the technical as well as the artistic skills to give you the body contouring results you desire.  Schedule a free consultation to see if Smart Lipo can help you.Smartlipo TriplexSmartlipo Reviews…

Lipo Vaser vs Laser Lipo

What is the difference between Laser Lipo and Lipo Vaser? We have heard of all these new fat busting technologies.  What are they and do they work?  Lawrence Broder MD of Beleza Medspa Austin TX, demonstrates and discusses some of these technologies. Laser Lipo Laser Lipo or better known by its brand name, Smartlipo, involves the use of a laser during liposuction.  The laser provides a focused beam of a single wavelength of light.  The light is absorbed by the tissues like fat, blood and skin to generate heat.  It is the heat that is important for the effects of laser lipo.  The heat will cause fat to melt and allows more fat removal and smoothing of the fat layer.  The heat absorbed by blood is important as it helps to cauterize blood vessels and control bleeding.  Finally, the heat absorbed by the skin and connective tissue leads to skin tightening.  So the effects of laser lipo or smartlipo help to improve liposuction results and decrease downtime.Lipo VaserUnlike laser lipo, lipo vaser uses ultrasonic sound waves.  These sound waves causes microscopic bubbles to form that help to break apart and free fat cells from the surrounding tissues.  This is important in areas of very fibrous fat like the chest, back and previous liposuction areas.  So the lipo vaser allows more fat to be removed with less trauma to the surrounding tissues.  Some heat is generated during the use of vaser but it is not as focused as laser lipo.  As with laser lipo, lipo vaser provides better results with less downtime.Smartlipo and Vaser can be used together or alone during liposuction cases.  They can work together to provider smoother and better sculpted body areas with less trauma and downtime.  They are both tools that a well trained and experienced cosmetic surgeon will use as needed during surgery. …

What is shrink wrap liposuction? There has been a lot of buzz and interest lately in a new procedure called shrink wrap liposuction.   Unfortunately, shrink wrap lipo is just another name for laser liposuction or smartlipo.  A physician in California has just marketed the procedure under a new name.  Although the name is catchy and clever, the procedure offers nothing new over conventional laser liposuction. The good news is that laser liposuction works and is here to stay.  Initially written off by the plastic surgeons as an unnecessary procedure, laser liposuction has progressed to almost be standard of care during liposuction these days.  Smartlipo, the original laser liposuction system has been joined by many competitors like Slim Lipo and Cool Lipo.  The power of the lasers have increased as well the different wavelengths of light used.  There are as many choices for these procedures for the surgeons as well as the patients. What is the advantage of laser liposuction? Laser liposuction is a tool and not a replacement for a skilled surgeon.  It is just another instrument available to the surgeon to improve your results.  What laser liposuction offers is the ability to introduce heat into the fat and skin layer.  The heat is proven to have several critical effects.  Fat cells absorb the heat and literally melt.  So the laser can help remove more fat and enable finer body sculpting results.  The other important effect is skin tightening.  Heat is well known to cause collagen stimulation and collagen contraction. Collagen is the building block of your skin and connective tissue.  So applying heat to your skin and deeper connective tissues leads to skin tightening (shrink wrap effect).Laser liposuction has been compared to traditional liposuction as a better alternative.  However, laser liposuction still involves traditional liposuction.  When a liposuction case begins, there is usually a large fat layer that must be made smaller.  If the layer is very small, the laser can be used first to melt the fat prior to suctioning it away.  In most patients, the layer is too large and the small laser fiber would be inefficient in trying to melt this thick fat.  It is best to suction away most of the fat with traditional as well as assisted liposuction techniques like vaser and power-assisted, prior to using the laser.  Once the fat layer is at the desired thickness, the laser can then be brought in to fine tune and smooth the fat layer, perform body sculpting and induce skin tightening.Laser liposuction does also have several other advantages like decreased bleeding and reduced downtime.  The heat from the laser appears to cauterize some blood vessels and reduce bleeding.  By substituting laser liposuction for the some of the more traumatic traditional lipo techniques, tissue damage and downtime also appear to be reduced. When looking for a laser liposuction surgeon it is crucial to make your decision on their experience and results rather than on their technology.  Repeated studies have shown that the power or the wavelength of the laser have no relation to good results.  Remember, laser liposuction is just another tool and its how the surgeon uses it that will determine your outcome. For more about Smartlipo and Laser Liposuction click here.…

Laser Lipo

What is Laser Lipo? Laser lipo is short for laser liposuction.   Liposuction as we all know is the cosmetic surgery procedure to remove fat from the body.  Common liposuction areas include the belly, love handles, muffin tops, thighs, arms and chin.   Popular for more than 30 years, liposuction is traditionally performed using blunt cannulas.  A cannula is nothing more than a hollow tube with small holes at the end.   The cannula is connected to suction and as it moves through the fat, it actually vacuums fat from the area.  The trick is to remove the right amount of fat to improve the body area while not showing any signs of the procedure. In recent years, laser assisted liposuction was introduced.  The concept of laser lipo was the heat generated from the light energy absorbed would improve liposuction results.   The laser was found to melt fat, cauterize blood vessels and tighten skin.   The laser gave the surgeon new capabilities beyond just fat removal.  It also offered decreased downtime and the ability to perform finer body sculpting. What is Smartlipo? Smartlipo (also known as Smart Lipo or Smart Liposuction) was the first laser lipo machine introduced by Cynosure in 2006.  It utilized a 1064 nm wavelength laser via a small flexible laser fiber.  The laser fiber was introduced into the fat layer during the liposuction procedure.  The laser energy was absorbed by the tissues and the heat generated caused its effects.  The heat would melt fat cells, cauterize small blood vessels and cause the surrounding connective tissue and skin to tighten.Smartlipo has evolved tremendously since it’s introduction.  Power has progressed from 12 watts to 64 watts and several new wavelengths of light have been added with Smartlipo MPX and Smartlipo Triplex.  Devices for laser liposuction now target various frequencies for either fat (approximately 915 nm, 1,210 nm and 1,720 nm) or water (1,064 nm and 1,320 nm and 1440 nm).   Other companies introduced competing lasers like SlimLipo, CoolLipo and Lipolite.   All of these lasers use different wavelengths and energy levels to achieve similar results. So why choose Laser Lipo? Laser liposuction gives your surgeon an extra instrument to give you better results.  The heat generated from the laser will melt fat.  In smaller areas like the chin, it can be used alone to liquify most of the fat.  In larger areas like the belly, the laser is used after removing most of the fat with liposuction cannulas.  This leaves a smaller fat layer that the laser can be used to smooth and finely sculpt. The heat delivered by the laser liposuction fiber has also been shown to cause skin retraction and tightening.  Heat has been proven repeatedly to be able to cause skin tightening throughout the body.  Laser lipo allows for the targeted introduction of heat in higher levels than possible from the surface.  This gives the surgeon the added ability to tighten loose skin without large incisions. The other advantage of laser liposuction is the possibility of reduced downtime.  The melted fat from the laser allows easier fat removal and less trauma.  The heat can also cauterizes small blood vessels which leads to less bleeding and bruising. Which Laser Lipo device do I choose? There are a dizzying array of laser lipo devices out there with the accompanying hype.  It is confusing for the surgeon as well as the patient!  Studies have shown that it is not the laser, wavelength or power that influences the final results.  These are just the bells and whistles.  It was the actual amount of energy that was delivered to the treatment area.  When the right amount of energy was introduced, the results were similar.   So the most important deciding factor should be the surgeon’s skill and experience with laser liposuction, not the type of laser. What is the Laser Lipo Cost? The great thing about laser liposuction cost is that it doesn’t add to the price.  The cost of the equipment and the use of the laser is already included in the liposuction cost.  So you get all added benefits of the laser without any extra cost. How do I find out more about Laser Liposuction? Dr Lawrence Broder MD  at Beleza Medspa Austin TX have been performing laser lipo for more than 8 years on more than 3000 patients.  He has tremendous experience with Smartlipo laser liposuction and can expertly sculpt your new body contours.  Make a free consultation to discuss your needs and how laser lipo can help you!  …

It is believed that the tradition of making a resolution on the eve of a new year began in the Babylonian culture. The Babylonians resolved to return borrowed farm equipment and start the new year free of debt. The tradition of making a resolution to mark the new year gained popularity in the United States in recent decades and the most popular resolution among American adults is weight loss. Because only 8% of resolutions made each year are actually achieved, there are a lot of people out there who will still be unhappy with their weight when they chime in 2014. Weight loss resolutions often fail because when it comes to fat loss and development of healthy eating habits, many people find that they do not have the tools or the knowledge needed to create long-term lifestyle changes. Luckily, this year can be different. This year you can be one of the 8% of people who turn resolutions into habits – and you don’t have to do it alone. Lose the weight Maybe you walk down the aisles of the grocery store and the labels look like gibberish. Perhaps you hit the gym but don’t see results quickly enough to motivate you to keep it up. If these scenarios sound like your resolution experiences, the Medical Weight Loss Diet is an ideal choice for you. Under the supervision of a Beleza dietician, patients lose significant weight during one 40-day cycle of the diet. The diet works because it combines a very low calorie diet with the use of a hormone – hormones which allow the body to access fat storage and use it as energy. Because a patient is using fat stores for energy, a normal metabolic rate and energy level is maintained. And, with the help of a dietician and a very low calorie diet, patients learn new eating habits and are able to better understand food labels so when the diet is over, they can keep the weight off. Get the shape you want The downside to weight loss is that weight is often lost from an area where it is wanted and remains in a location where it is unwanted.  Luckily, patients no longer have to live with it. A combination of SmartLipo Liposuction and fat transfer allows Beleza’s physician, Dr. Lawerence Broder, to take fat from a less desirable area, like the belly or love handles, and deposit it in a more desirable area, like the breasts or buttocks. The best part? SmartLipo with fat transfer is an outpatient procedure that utilizes local anesthetic and small incisions and rarely requires stitches. Most patients are back on their feet in a few hours, back to the office after a few days and back to exercise after a week. Refine your body Whether it is after weight loss or for a patient who just needs to trim a small amount of fat or a few inches from the waist, arms or legs, there are options available that allow for shape refinement. A non-invasive but permanent method of fat reduction is Coolsculpting. Because fat freezes at a higher temperature than the tissue surrounding it, Coolsculpting technology freezes fat without damaging skin, and then the frozen fat cells are naturally disposed of by the body. It is a non-invasive alternative to SmartLipo for patients that have fat to lose from areas like the belly, love handles, bra rolls, thighs and arms. Each one hour session is pain-free with no stitches, no incisions, no knives and little to no downtime. Most patients require only one session to see the results they want, but an area can be targeted more than once to see additional improvement. Venus Freeze is a treatment designed to promote skin tightening and new collagen formation using radiofrequency combined with magnetic energy. Using a series of treatments, Venus Freeze can improve skin tightness immediately and over time as collagen develops. Why make it stick this year? Weight and fat loss don’t just influence what you see when you look in the mirror; the change can make you feel better and your body function better, too. When you find yourself slipping on that diet or skipping the gym by the end of January, bring your weight loss resolutions to Beleza and make sure you’re part of the 8% who make their resolutions stick this year.…
