Liposuction 360

What is Liposuction?Basically, liposuction is the suctioning of excess fat from the body.  But that is an over simplification of what liposuction really is.  Liposuction is actually an artistic, body sculpting procedure designed to produce more aesthetically pleasing body contours.  The surgeon uses the liposuction instruments to carefully and skillfully remove excess fat to reveal new curves and profiles.  So, in the pursuit of liposuction results, the creative and artistic abilities of the surgeon are as important as their training. What is Liposuction 360?Like most sculptures, the body is 3 dimensional.  This means that treating one area, actually requires treating the neighboring areas to produce the best results.  For instance, let’s look at the waist.  You could just treat the abdomen and get a smaller waist.  But to really get the smaller, tighter waist (snatched), one would also need to treat the love handles and the back too.  This all-around liposuction, or liposuction 360 (lipo 360) will give the patient the results possible. So liposuction 360 involves circular liposuction around the body areas treated.  Liposuction 360 is critical in areas like the waist, arms and thighs, where the fat is contained in tight compartments.  The thing to know about these areas, is that the fat and the skin are all connected.  Best results require treating all the connected areas.  Removing fat from an area completely opposite the area that you are interested in, can produce even better results! How Does Liposuction 360 Work?As we mentioned above, liposuction 360 is critical for best results in areas like the arms, waist and thighs.  What do these areas have in common?  They are all basically closed compartments, tightly connected to each other.  As a result, removing fat with liposuction and inducing skin tightening, will produce results in the entire compartment.  For example, removing back and love handle fat, will produce a tighter waist on the opposite side, the abdomen.  Once you and more importantly, your surgeon understand liposuction 360, your liposuction results can be unlimited. …

Dispelling Botox Myths

Botox Cosmetic has been around for more than 10 years now and has been injected hundreds of millions of times.  It has an unparalleled safety record.  Most people are pretty familiar with it and what it does.  However, there are still many myths about Botox.  Let’s look at some Botox myths:Botox Works ImmediatelySome patients will see effects from their Botox in 1-2 days, but most patients require 1-2 weeks for full effect.  Nobody will see an immediate result from Botox injections.Botox Fills WrinklesBotox relaxes the muscles of facial expression that cause wrinkles.  Dermal fillers like Juvederm are needed in conjunction with Botox to fill wrinkles.  When used together, Botox and Juvederm can completely erase many lines and wrinkles.Botox is all I NeedBotox is just one component of facial rejuvenation which also includes volume replacement with dermal fillers and collagen stimulation with microneedling, laser resurfacing, and products like retin-a.  Using Botox alone will leave you with less than optimal results.Botox is not for MenBotox works great in both men and women.  Men get the same wrinkles as women and greatly benefit from Botox injections.  Men tend to have bigger and stronger facial muscles, and usually require more units of Botox. Some Practices Dilute BotoxBotox is supplied by its manufacturer as a freeze dried protein.  Everyone must mix the Botox with saline (salt water) to make it possible to inject it.  When Botox is sold by the unit, you are assured of knowing exactly how much Botox you are getting.Botox is a PoisonBotox is a purified protein derived from the botulinim toxin and is not a poison.  When injected properly, Botox Cosmetic is very safe.Botox is Too ExpensiveWhen you look at the effects of Botox in reducing and prevent facial wrinkles and lines, Botox is a wise investment compared to many other less effective procedures and products.Athletic People need more BotoxThe amount of Botox needed depends on your facial muscles and several other factors.  Your level of physical activity usually doesn’t affect the amount of Botox needed.I only need Botox once in a While. The good and bad thing about Botox is that it will only last 3-4 months in most patients.  To keep up the effects, maintenance Botox injections are necessary.   …

Unfortunately, anytime a needle is used there is a risk of bruising afterwards.  When Botox and/or dermal fillers like Juvederm are injected, sometimes the needle may nick a small blood vessel.  This may produce a small bruise that will resolve on its own.  However, there are some things we can do to prevent this annoying side effect.Experienced InjectorsLook for an injector that has a great deal of experience with injectables like Botox and Juvederm.  They have seen the complications like bruising and know how to avoid them.  But even the best injector will still sometimes get some bruising!Avoid Certain MedicationsAny medications that you are taking that interfere with your body’s ability to clot, can lead to bruising no matter how careful the injector is.  These include medications like Aspirin, Vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, Coumadin, Heparin, and Fish Oil.  If you are taking some of these supplements on your own, we would advise holding them for at least a week before your injections.  If your are taking them under the direction of a physician, please discuss holding them first with your provider.SupplementsCertain supplements are commonly used to prevent bruising.  These include Arnica Montana and Bromelain.  They are both easy to find in your local pharmacy.  They can be taken before and after your injections to prevent bruising.  Bromelain is found naturally in pineapples!Avoid TraumaThis means not rubbing or touching in any way your injection sites.  This also means not running or lifting weights for a few days.  If you do anything to increase your blood pressure, you can make any of those injection sites bleed and bruise.ElevationDo not immediately lay down after these injections.  This will increase blood flow to these areas and cause bruising.Cold CompressesYes cold compresses work!  Not too hard though, as trauma will cause bruising.…

Top Questions About Hair Transplant

Hair Transplant has come a long way since when it was developed in the 50s.  The days of “plugs” and “strips” have been replaced by new techniques and new technology.  Beleza Medspa offers experienced Neograft hair transplant technicians, low hair transplant costs and Neograft hair transplant technology.  We believe we offer some of the best hair transplant in Texas.  Let’s look at some of the top questions and answers about hair transplant.Does hair transplant work? Yes!  Hair transplant basically involves moving hair follicles from one area of the scalp to another.   It is commonly used to treat male pattern baldness.  Male pattern baldness primarily affects the top and sides of the scalp and causes those hair follicles to go dormant.  Men with male pattern baldness usually present with a receding hairline.  The cause of male pattern baldness is genetics and the hormone testosterone. The interesting thing about male pattern baldness, is that genetically resistant hair follicles remain in men with hair loss.  These hair follicles are usually present on the back and sides of the scalp.  Hair transplantation involves harvesting these resistant hair follicles and transplanting them to bald areas.  These resistant hair follicles are able to permanently produce hair in bald areas of the scalp. What is follicular unit extraction (FUE)? There are two main methods of harvesting hair follicles from the donor areas.  The older way is called strip harvesting.  This actually involves removing a section of the scalp in the back of the head.  This strip of scalp would then be cut up into smaller groups of hair follicles.  The disadvantage of this method is that there is a long incision that requires staples, recovery and leaves a long scar. Follicular unit extraction (FUE) individually harvests the hair follicles directly from the resistant donor area.  Hair naturally grows in groups of 1-4 hairs.  FUE extracts these natural groups of hair follicles.  Once they are harvested, they require no processing and are immediately ready for transplant. In contrast to the strip technique, FUE does not require hours of extracting hair follicles from the strip of scalp.  The less time involved in handling the hair follicles and the faster they are implanted, can lead to a better take rate, or survival rate. FUE also leaves multiple, small circular scars that are easily concealed in the hair of the donor area.  The strip method scar is very difficult to conceal and is usually, easy to recognize. What is Neograft Hair Transplant? Neograft is a further refinement of the FUE procedure.  The Neograft machine basically involves a specially designed hand piece that allows the harvesting of follicular units and immediately transporting them to a safe container.  Neograft uses a punch and air pressure to remove the follicles from the scalp.  This avoids trauma to the follicles and keeps them moist in the container.  Neograft can decrease the harvesting time and possibly lead to healthier hair follicles for transplant. What is the hair transplant austin cost? Surgery is a field of medicine where the physician performs a procedure to produce a change in the body.  Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to remove excess fat and produce body contouring. What is the Liposuction Procedure like? The safest way to perform liposuction, is while awake using local, tumescent anesthesia.  Prior to starting the liposuction, a salt water solution containing lidocaine is injected into the fat.  This solution provides anesthesia and prevents bleeding.  Once numb, thin hollow liposuction cannulas are used to suction away the fat. What areas of the body can be treated with Liposuction?Virtually any part of the body can be treated with liposuction.  Most common areas include abdomens, love handles and flanks, bra rolls, thighs, arms and chins. What kind of anesthesia is used for Liposuction?Liposuction can be performed under general anesthesia, but is safest performed while awake under local tumescent anesthesia.  General anesthesia is actually riskier than the liposuction procedure itself.  Tumescent anesthesia leads to a safer procedure and a much quicker liposuction recovery. What are the Liposuction Scars like?Liposuction does require multiple small incisions to be made in the skin.  The good thing is that they are very small and can be hidden in various parts of the body. What is Smart Liposuction?Smart liposuction has become to mean awake liposuction performed awake using small microcannulas and allowing drainage after the procedure.  Smartlipo involves the use of a laser while Vaser Lipo involves the use of ultrasonic energy. What is the Liposuction Cost?Liposuction is typically priced by the number of body areas treated.  Liposuction prices must also take into account the amount of fat present, as more fat means more work.  Some of our average liposuctions costs can be found here. What is the Liposuction Recovery? The recovery after liposuction performed under local anesthesia is pretty quick.  After Liposuction, patients are back on their feet immediately and should resume light activities.  Patients may return to work in 3-5 days as tolerated. What are the Liposuction Side Effects? The main side effects after tumescent liposuction are drainage, numbness and swelling.  The first 1-2 days after the procedure will be marked by the drainage of the tumescent fluid.  After the drainage stops, the liposuction areas will swell.  This swelling will take 1-2 months to resolve and is treated with massage, a compression garment and activity.  Most patients will also have some numbness in the liposuction areas for several weeks. What are the Liposuction Risks?Like any surgical procedure, liposuction risks include infection, bleeding and pain.  The good thing about tumescent liposuction is that these risks are minimized.Do you have Liposuction Before and After?See some of our liposuction before and after photos here.Where do I find Liposuction Near Me?Beleza Medspa has provided awake, tumescent liposuction to thousands of patients in the Austin area since 2008.  Beleza Medspa has a custom built, AAAHC accredited surgical suite specifically designed to provide safe liposuction surgery.  When looking for liposuction near me, consider Beleza Medspa and Plastic Surgeon Dr. Staci Hix-Hernandez MD for your free liposuction consultation.…

Beleza Medspa has helped thousands of patients over the past 10 years, successfully remove stubborn fat from their bodies with liposuction.  However, liposuction is more than just fat removal, but more of an artistic body contouring procedure.  Over the years, we have collected some of the most common liposuction questions by our patients: How much does liposuction cost? The liposuction cost depends on the number of body areas treated and the amount of fat needed to be removed. Somebody with more fat to be removed, will require more work and therefore more cost.  The good thing is that the cost of liposuction is affordable more than ever with use of local anesthesia.   Beleza Medspa liposuction prices start at $1199 an area, with the average liposuction cost of $5000.  A free consultation is required to determine individual pricing.2.  How much swelling will I experience after liposuction? All patients will experience some degree of swelling after liposuction.  The empty space under your skin where the fat is removed, will naturally be filled with fluid by your body. This swelling will eventually resolve with time.  How long the liposuction swelling takes to resolve and how much swelling there is, depends on how much fat is removed and is different for every patient.  Liposuction swelling is helped by wearing a compression garment, massage and exercise.  Most patients will have most of their liposuction swelling resolve in one month, but sometimes it lasts another few months.3.  What are the non-surgical alternatives to liposuction? The best non-surgical alternative to liposuction is Coolsculpting.  Coolsculpting allows for the reduction of stubborn fat without any recovery or downtime.  However, Coolsculpting cannot remove as much fat as liposuction or perform true body contouring.4.  How long do I have to wear compression garments after liposuction? As we discussed in the liposuction swelling question, wearing of a compression garment helps with the resolution of swelling.  We generally recommend our liposuction patients wear their compression garments for 4-6 weeks.  As the swelling resolves, we recommend switching to smaller garments to maximize your results.5.  How much downtime is there after liposuction? The use of local tumescent anesthesia during liposuction has greatly decreased liposuction downtime and liposuction recovery.  The tumescent fluid actually protects the surrounding tissues while the fat is removed.  After liposuction, our patients go home pain-free and are back on their feet immediately.  We encourage light activity the next day and gradual resumption of normal activity over the next week.  Most patients will miss less than a week of work, depending on what they do.…

AquaGold Fine Touch

AquaGold Fine Touch: Microchanneling Super FacialWhat is AquaGold Fine Touch or AquaGold Facial?Aquagold fine touch is a form of microneedling that use gold plated needles.  Like other forms of microneedling, Aquagold fine touch’s needles penetrate the upper layers of skin to create microchannels.  The Aquagold’s needles penetrate to 0.6 mm.  The microchannels allow for the delivery of skin modifying agents directly into the deeper layers of skin, where sun damage and aging occurs. How is AquaGold different from Microneedling? In terms of its mechanism of action, Aquagold is is identical to microneedling.  Both use very small, surgical grade needles to penetrate the upper layer of skin and create microchannels to the deeper layer of skin.  Aquagold does have the innovation of a sterile vial attached to the microneedles.  This allows various skin treatments like Botox, Juvederm, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, PRP and others, to be delivered directly through the needles.  This is different than traditional microneedling which requires these substances to first be placed on the skin directly, before the procedure.  The theory is that Aquagold provides for better transmission of these skin treatments to the deep layers of skin.So what can Aquagold Fine Touch do for my skin?Just like in traditional microneedling, the action of the  Aquagold microneedles themselves will stimulate some collagen rejuvenation.  Depending on the solutions added to the Aquagold vial, some additional skin benefits may include:Shrink pore size and reduce facial oil/sweating with Botox Smooth skin & texture, and reduce fine lines with dermal hyaluronic acids like Juvederm Improve superficial acne scarring with hyaluronic acid like Juvederm Stimulate rejuvenation and repair with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Brighten skin with pigment reducersSo how is AquaGold Fine Touch performed?Aquagold is an in-office procedure with no downtime.  The skin is first cleansed and the Aqugold procedure itself is then completed within 30 minutes.  Typically, Aqugold is combined with other procedures like Botox and Juvderm injections.Does Aquagold have any side effects? While there is no downtime or recovery associated with AquaGold Fine Touch, some patients may have 1-2 days of swelling after the procedure. When will I see results after AquaGold? Most patients will see some results in three to seven days after the procedure.  The results can last 3-4 months depending on the skin modifying solutions used. How often can I have AquaGold Performed?Aquagold, like microneedling can be repeated every 1- 3 months.  Keeping a regular schedule of treatments will produce even greater results.Does Aquagold replace Botox and Filler Injections? No.  Aquagold will not affect facial muscles or fill deep lines.  Aquagold does allow you to introduce the Botox and filler to your entire face, to enhance your regular Botox and filler treatments. How much does Aquagold cost? The Aquagold treatment cost starts at $599.  It can be added during Botox and Juvederm injections to lower the Aquagold treatment cost.  Additional skin modifying solutions will add to the Aquagold facial cost. How do I get an AquaGold Facial?Contact us for a free consultation and we can discuss how the Aquagold treatment can help you!         …
