Leg and ankle fat is also becoming an area of concern for most women. Also known as ‘cankles’, or the absence of a defined ankle on a person – whereby the calf of the leg merges directly into the foot. This may result from obesity, but it also has a genetic component. It is very difficult to target cankles with diet and exercise.
These areas can be addressed by minimally invasive liposuction procedures, especially laser liposuction. The lower leg has a very thin fat layer. As a result, liposuction in this area must be very conservative as not to show liposuction defects. The best combination is to use small liposuction cannulas, microcannulas and laser liposuction via smartlipo. Recovery is very quick and the use of a compression garment is required after the procedure.
