What is LightSheer Laser Hair Removal?
At Beleza Medspa, we utilize the LightSheer™ diode laser and Syneron ELOS state-of-the-art permanent hair removal systems. They are specially designed to provide permanent hair reduction faster and safer, with less discomfort than other methods.
It can be performed on all body areas and any skin type and has been proven to create a permanent reduction on the amount of hair regrowth following each treatment.
Using this process, to remove unwanted hair, a beam of light at a certain wavelength is applied directly to your skin. That light is then absorbed by the pigment within the follicle, eliminating the problem. Common areas treated include the face, underarms, bikini, legs and back.
What should I expect during laser hair removal?
After you’ve had anesthetic cream on for at least 15-30 minutes, we’ll put a cool gel on the area we plan to treat. We’ll ask you to put on dark glasses to protect you from the light, and once you’re comfortable, we’ll begin applying the laser with our specialized hand piece.
Are these laser hair removal treatments safe?
Clinical trials have repeatedly proven this procedure to be safe. Tanned skin and the use of retinoids and accutane are contraindicated for laser hair removal. Adjustments are required for darker skin types as there is less contrast between the pigment in the skin and in the hair follicles.
How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?
For 80 – 90% permanent hair reduction, at least three to five sessions are required. At any one time, laser hair removal only targets 20% of hair follicles that are actively growing. So repeated treatments will be needed to treat most of the hair follicles.
You should begin to see results after the very first session. Treatments can be repeated every four to six weeks. Sometimes more than 5 sessions may be needed and we will work with you until most of the hair is gone. We will work with you until you are satisfied with your results.
Is LightSheer laser hair removal painful?
When the laser is on your skin, you may feel a small stinging sensation. To help minimize this, you’ll apply an anesthetic cream 30 minutes prior to the procedure. After the procedure, you shouldn’t feel any real pain.
Who is a good candidate for LightSheer laser hair removal?
LightSheer laser hair removal can be performed on many different types of people. Men and women are both candidates, as well as teenagers and older individuals. With this procedure, the hair that is targeted must be brown or black, as it won’t be effective with blonde or gray hairs. To ensure you’re a good candidate for the procedure, consult with us beforehand.
What should I do after laser hair removal?
If you experience any redness or swelling, you can apply a cool compress to the area. Although shaving is permitted the day after treatment, you must protect your skin using sunscreen and protective clothing when going outdoors. You can expect to see results over the few weeks following the treatment.
