What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a way to eliminate sun damage, acne scars, and fine lines on the face.

How can a chemical peel help?

Vi Peel

Beta Lift – 30 min- $95
This advanced treatment features the popular beta hydroxyacid with salicylic acid and is offered only in a physicians office. Beta lift lifts dead, dull cells off the surface of your skin. This product is for oily and acne-prone skin, and helps enlarged pores appear smaller.

Jessner Peel – 45 min- $125
Beleza Med Spa recommends this peel for sun damaged, hyperpigmented (brown spots), and wrinkled skin. A light chemical cosmetic peeling treatment is used to superficially exfoliate the skin. This active solution assists in smoothing superficial wrinkles, lightening skin pigment disorders (brown spots), drying acne lesions, reducing scarring, and clearing the skin of blackheads.

Obagi Blue Peel -$200 per layer
The Blue Peel is an excellent chemical peel used in combination with the Obagi Nu-Derm Restoration System for clear, smooth, and healthy skin. During the peel process, the damaged surface layer of skin is removed, and soon it is replaced with a fresh layer that is smoother, well-toned, more even-colored, and has smaller pores. The Blue Peel offers benefits over other peel methods because it allows the physician to control many aspects of the process, including the depth of penetration, so treatments can be tailored to the individual patient. On average, two to three peels are required to achieve full skin health.

Vitalize Peel®- $125
This superficial peel requires little to no downtown, and is suitable for all skin types I-VI. The self-neutralizing formula is easy-to-use and includes a unique blend of peeling agents: alpha-hydroxy acids, beta-hydroxy acits, resorcinol, and retonic acid (obtained by physician.)

Illuminize Peel™ – $95
This non-invasive superficial peel utilizes a novel approach to chemical peeling. For maximum rejuvenating effects, it utilizes a newer generation of alpha-hydroxy acids (Mandelic Acid and Malic Acid) in combination with Phytic Acid and commonly used peeling agents (Salicylic Acid and Resorcinol). It causes little to no irritation and is great for the day before a special event.

How does a chemical peel work?

Chemical peels utilize alpha hydroxyl acids, trichloroacetic acid, and/or phenol. This sloughs off the outer layers of skin, helping to reveal a brand-new skin layer free from problems.

What should I expect during treatment?

Just prior to treatment, your skin will be carefully cleaned. If necessary, a topical anesthetic can be added to ensure your comfort. Next, the chemical peel solution will be added, which will vary based on your individual needs. It’s typical to feel a stinging sensation when the solution is on your face. It will stay on your face for a few moments, then it will be rinsed away. An ointment will be applied, and we’ll tell you a bit about what you should do afterward depending on the type of peel you’ve had.

Are these treatments safe?

Adverse reactions to these procedures are very rare, and most patients experience almost no side effects at all.

How many treatments will I need?

Chemical peels can be performed every two to three months depending on the strength of your peel. If you wish, you can purchase a package to better suit your needs.

Is a chemical peel painful?

You may feel a tingling sensation during the actual peel. In many cases after the procedure, it may feel like you’ve gotten a light sunburn on your face.

Who is a good candidate for a chemical peel?

Anyone who suffers from enlarged pores, sun damage, scarring, or even fine lines is a good candidate for a chemical peel. If you have ongoing health conditions, you should discuss them with us before we perform the procedure.

What should I do after treatment?

While you can return to your normal activities right away, you can expect the skin on your face to take up to three weeks to heal. You’ll need to stay out of the sun for at least two weeks, and wear sunblock if you go outside.
