There are many people who are looking for a solution to help get a smoother, sleeker look. They are hesitant to undergo the knife due to possible complications, as well as the lengthy healing process. Laser Zerona may be the perfect solution for getting the body you want. This revolutionary procedure is the first non-invasive FDA-approved laser treatment. It is also an effective and safe way to literally melt away excess fat and inches. It can be effectively used on any body parts that have fat deposits. However, the most popular treatment areas are the thighs and abdomen, due to the fact these areas do not satisfactorily respond to exercise and diet. How Does the Zerona Laser Work? The Zerona Laser procedure is easy and pain free. The Zerona cold laser appliance is aimed at your treatment area. The energy emitted by the laser is then absorbed in the fat, at which time the cells are liquefied. These liquefied fat cells are then eliminated through your body’s lymphatic system. The Zerona procedure is a great option for those who want to avoid traditional liposuction with its large cannulas, suction, and general anesthetic. Additionally, liposuction often has a very long recovery time. The Zerona Laser is noninvasive and requires no incisions of any kind, so there is no need for general anesthesia. In fact, no type of pain reliever is required, even numbing gels or creams. The procedure takes about 40 minutes during which time you will be able to completely relax, as there will be no heat or other similar sensations. Each treatment area is treated for 20 minutes on each side. To achieve the maximum results, the entire process will take approximately six treatments, which should not be spaced out longer than 72 hours between sessions. During this treatment process, you should maintain a healthy diet, keep hydrated and avoid alcohol and caffeine because these substances can interfere with the fat removal process. The Zerona Laser procedure is completely noninvasive and pain free, meaning you will have no downtime and will be able to return to your normal routine immediately. On average, patients see a loss of approximately 4 inches off the waist, hips and thighs. So, when you’re ready to get that sleeker look, consult a Zerona Laser professional to discuss how you can get your desired results.…

When comes to finding the right cosmetic surgeon, not only is it important to do some research beforehand, but it’s also essential to ensure that the doctor who performs the operation is fully certified, experienced, and performs surgery in an accredited facility. There are several factors to consider when finding a cosmetic surgeon; however, the following are tips to assist you in your search. Ensure that the doctor is board certified Make sure your doctor is recognized by a medical board. You can check for recognition on a national level from organizations such as the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS). Also research on a state level such as organizations such as the Texas Medical Association (TMA). Check for recommendations If you have friends or family that have had cosmetic procedures done in the past ask them for their recommendations. Today it is easier than ever to get feedback from others with the internet. Check out credible review sites such as Google Plus or Yelp for reviews on doctors you are considering. Check the cost Costs for surgery may vary depending on several factors, such as the location, surgeon experience, type of surgery performed, and individual needs. Other factors like the complexity and length of the procedure also have some bearing on the cost. Also keep in mind that cosmetic surgery is typically not covered by insurance. Schedule a consultation with your physician Once you choose a cosmetic surgeon, you should schedule an initial consultation with him or her. The consultation is important because it gives you an opportunity to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the procedure. The consultation may also cover your medical history and any other factors your surgeon may need to know about you. After the surgery, you should also follow up with your cosmetic surgeon as well as your primary physician to ensure that there are no complications, as follow-up sessions are very important for your health and well being.…

What is Anti Aging? We age for several reasons.  There are external factors like the sun, pollution, cigarettes and bad diets that cause us to age.  There are also internal factors that effect aging which mainly involve our genes and their expression.  Many of the external factors influence the expression of genes.  It is the external factors that we mainly have control of.  So anti aging involves lessening these external factors as well as their effect on our genes and their expression. What is the Best Anti Aging? Simply put the best anti aging is healthy living.  Good nutrition and regular exercise will probably make more of a difference than anything else.  What you put into your mouth has more to do with how you age than anything else.  Maintaining a normal weight and eating more of a plant based diet has been proven to extend life and prevent disease.  Exercise has so many positive effects throughout the body that would make a drug company envious.  Even better, exercise has no cost, and makes you feel and look better! How about Anti Aging Creams? The market is flooded with anti aging creams.  What works?  Unfortunately most anti aging creams do not work.  They are mostly overpriced moisturizers buoyed by advertising.   However there are many anti aging creams with proven anti aging benefit.  They consist of retinoids, growth factors and antioxidants.  Retinoids have proven ability to stimulate skin cells to make new collagen, the building block of skin.  Growth factors are proteins that stimulate a multitude of effects in many other cells.  Antioxidants are natural substances that absorb the damaging free radicals produced by pollution and sun exposure.  So looking for medical grade anti aging creams with these ingredients is most effective. How about Anti Aging Skin? Besides the anti aging creams we already mentioned, there are many other anti aging skin treatments.  The first  and most effective anti aging skin treatment is protection.  Liberal use of sun blocks prevents the sun damage from occurring.  Once there are visible signs of aging, there are many treatments to not only improve its appearance but to actually reverse some of the damage.  IPL photofacials utilize broad band light to remove any brown spots or small blood vessels.   CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing can remove the upper layer of damaged skin and heat the lower layer to induce skin tightening.   Radiofrequency treatments like Thermage and Venus Freeze use radio waves to heat the lower skin layers to cause tightening.  Chemical peels can remove layers of damaged skin while stimulating some tightening.  A consultation with a skin care specialist can determine which anti aging skin treatments are best for you.…

What is a Non Surgical Facelift? We all know the signs of the aging face. Drooping skin, deep wrinkles, sunken cheeks and rough skin.  Traditionally, we have been taught that the surgical facelift was the only answer.   Driven by the plastic surgery community, expensive and painful facelift operations have been the norm.   Requiring general anesthesia, patients were faced with the risks of having their breathing taken over by a machine.  Coupled with a painful recovery and high prices, the artificial facelift results hardly seem worth it. This has led many doctors and patients to seek non surgical facelift alternatives.   The goal is to address many of the signs of the aging face without the risk, pain, downtime and expense of the traditional facelift.  As a result, the market has been flooded with many treatments and procedures with dubious claims.  Miracle creams, microcurrent treatments, and facials just don’t work.  The good thing is that there are new non surgical facelift treatments that are proven to work. The Best Non Surgical Facelift Alternatives. There exists a great deal of medical knowledge about aging skin and how to treat it.  We know that many of the changes in aging skin are due to breakdown of the main building block of skin, collagen.  As we age our collagen production decreases and our existing collagen breaks down.  This leads to the drooping skin, wrinkles and loss of elasticity we see.   So many of the effective anti aging skin treatments revolve around collagen stimulation.   To induce skin cells to make new collagen and tighten existing collagen is the real fountain of youth. Retinoids The retinoids are derivatives of vitamin A and are used topically.  They actually have been shown to induce skin cells to make new collagen and turnover existing collagen at a faster rate.  They range from over the counter retinols to prescription grade retin-a (tretinoin).  They need to be part of any anti aging regimen and are a cheap and easy to use facelift alternative.  Results take several months, but retinoids are safe to use indefinitely. Heat The other proven method to induce new collagen formation is the use of heat.  Heat has been shown to tighten existing collagen and induce skin cells to make new collagen.  The new collagen appears at least a month after the application of heat.  The trick with the use of heat is to apply it at the right level of the skin, in the right amount without causing burns.  There are many ways to due this.  There are lasers that use light energy to apply heat at different levels like CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing.  Radiofrequency uses radio waves to penetrate the skin and heat the lower layers.  Examples of this include Thermage and Venus Freeze.  There are also now procedures that use ultrasound energy to heat the skin like Ultherapy.  All of these machines are just tools that require appropriate patient selection and application for best results. NeoJuvenescence Lift Studies have shown that the best results come from combination treatments.  Lawrence Broder MD at Beleza Medspa Austin TX has developed the NeoJuvenescence Lift, a combination non surgical facelift alternative.  The NeoJuvenescence Lift involves the proven procedures CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing, SmartLipo Laser liposuction, Platelet Rich Plasma and Fat Transfer for maximum results.  The NeoJuvenescence Lift provides a fresh new skin, restores facial volumes, removes jowls and and tightens the face and neck overall.  It provides the latest non surgical facelift procedures in one treatment. …

Restore Lost Cheek Volume and Get a Lifting Effect with Juvederm Voluma. The Aging Face As we age, we tend to focus on the easily visible signs of aging like wrinkles and brown spots.  However, we tend to overlook the most tell-tale sign of aging, loss of facial volume.  Not only does the skin thin and sag with time, but we actually start to lose fat, muscle and bone in our faces.  This leads to dramatic changes in the appearance of our brows and temples, cheeks and chins.  This loss of volume, more than anything else causes us to have an older looking face. Restoring Facial Volume Thankfully, rejuvenation of the aging face has progressed from more than filling in wrinkles.  We have known for years that restoration of facial volume in the cheeks, brow and chin is the key to facial rejuvenation.   Our tool box currently includes dermal fillers like the hyaluronic acid Juvederm and Radiesse and facial fat transfer.  We are now introducing Juvederm Voluma for such purposes.  JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC is indicated for deep  injection for cheek augmentation to correct age-related volume deficit in the mid-face in adults over the age of 21. What is Juvederm Voluma XC? You may be familiar with Juvederm XC which is a very popular dermal filler.  It consists of hyaluronic acid which is a natural building block of skin.  It has a great safety record and is used to smooth lines and restore volume throughout the face.  Juvederm Voluma is a hyaluronic acid filler treated with Vycross technology.  This cross links the hyaluronic acid particles which make the filler smoother and longer lasting.  In fact it has been shown to last up to two years! How is Juvederm Voluma Used? Like other dermal fillers, Juvederm Voluma is injected using a small needle.  The site is numbed before the injection with a topical anesthetic.  Juvederm Voluma also contains the local anesthetic lidocaine which will produce a relatively painless procedure.  Every patient is different and your injector will indicate where on your cheeks the volume loss is most evident.  The Juvederm Voluma is injected deeply below the skin, close to the bone.  It then can be shaped to match the contours of your face using gentle massage. How Long Does Juvederm Voluma Last? The initial studies have indicated that most of the Juvederm Voluma patients will require a touch up at the one month mark.  After this touch up, the cross linked hyaluronic acid produced by the Vycross technology has been shown to still be evident up to two years.  During this time the hyaluronic acid is gradually broken down by the body.  It is important to note, that during this time we will continue to age and further lose more volume.  So volume replacement is a procedure that requires occasional maintenance.…

Butt Implants

What are Butt Implants? In the search for a more shapely butt, many women will consider butt augmentation.  There are many ways to do this and one of them is with butt implants.  Butt implants are made of soft silicone.  They are designed to adhere to the curves of the buttocks while giving them more volume.  They do require a surgical procedure to place them using a large incision.  They are placed into a pocket where they remain forever.  However, as we all know, we sit on our buttocks constantly.  As a result, you will be sitting on foreign objects that could cause discomfort.  There is also a risk that they can move and become infected.  So although they can provide almost instant gratification, butt implants are an imperfect solution to butt augmentation. Do Butt Injections Work? There are some soft tissue fillers approved for use in body contouring overseas.  They mainly consist of hyaluronic acids like the dermal fillers Juvederm and Restylane.   However, their longevity and problems with discomfort have limited their use.  Recently, there has been a rash of non-medical individuals performing Butt Injections with a host of different substances.  There have been cases of silicone, caulk and even cement being injected into buttocks.  These cases have led to severe injury and permanent disfigurement.  It is important to know that there are no safe butt injections currently available. What is the Brazilian Butt Lift? Using safe liposuction under local anesthesia, the Brazilian Butt Lift uses fat transfer to naturally perform Butt Augmentation.  Your own fat is the best filler as it carries no risk of infection, allergic reaction and it is already a natural part of your buttocks. Even better, many of us have plenty of extra fat that we can donate to perform fat transfer to the buttocks.  The Brazil But Lift combines extensive body contouring using liposuction of the waist, abdomen and back.  Reducing the waist and lower back will enhance the size and shape of the buttocks prior to fat transfer.  The removed fat is then loaded into syringes and carefully distributed throughout the buttocks to build them up in a pleasing manner.  These are living fat cells that we want to survive so the patient cannot sit on them for 72 hours and as little as possible for the first week.  Unfortunately, we will lose a certain percentage of the fat injected, but fat survival rates in the buttocks are high.  The Brazilian Butt Lift offers the best combination of body contouring and safe fat transfer to provide the round and fuller butt most women prefer.  Contact us for a free Butt Lift consultation now!…

Smart Lipo

What is Smart Liposuction? Smart Lipo is a form of liposuction combining tumescent anesthesia and laser liposuction.  The ‘smart’ part comes from the brand of laser assisted liposuction used.   The advantage of smart lipo is that it is performed totally under local anesthesia, avoiding the risks of general anesthesia.  As a result, patients are back on their feet immediately and go home numb.  The anesthesia wears off gradually, leading to a more comfortable recovery.  In addition, as the quick return to activity reduces chances of postoperative complications as well as speeds recovery. Laser Liposuction The other important aspect of Smart Lipo is the laser liposuction.  Introduced at various times during the procedure, laser liposuction can improve results.  The laser is transmitted through a small fiber introduced into the fat layer.  The light is absorbed and generates heat.  It is the heat that causes the positive effects.  Fat cells absorb some of this heat and melt away.  So the laser Smart Lipo can be used to totally melt away small fatty areas and smooth out the fat layer in larger areas.  Even more important, the heat from laser liposuction tightens skin and stimulates new collagen formation.   As a results, Laser Smart Lipo can produce smoother and tighter liposuction results. Smart Lipo Cost So does Smart Lipo cost more than traditional liposuction?  Actually it costs less!  Since general anesthesia and an anesthesiologist are not needed, the cost of smart lipo is dramatically reduced.   The cost of the laser liposuction should be included in the surgeon’s fee so the overall fee is the same.   So not only is smart lipo safer than traditional liposuction, it is actually much more economical. After Smart Lipo So what happens after the smart liposuction procedure.  As we discussed previously, the patient is back on their feet immediately and can resume normal activities as tolerated.   The main issue that patients deal with after smart lipo is swelling.  The areas where fat has been removed begin to accumulate lymphatic fluids and swell.  This swelling will resolve on it’s own over the next several weeks to months.  Patients can assist the resolution of the swelling by wearing a compression garment, getting lymphatic massage and exercising.  Skin tightening after smart lipo can take several months. I Want Laser Smart Lipo! If you have decided that smart lipo can give you the results you desire as well as the safety you demand, the next step is a free consultation.  During the consultation, we can address your needs as well as how smart lipo can help you and give you an all-inclusive smart lipo quote.…

Looking for Austin Cosmetic Surgery? The process of selecting the right procedure and the right Austin plastic surgeon can be confusing and scary.  We are bombarded with new procedures, advertisements, miracle cures and even worse, bad plastic surgery.  Where does one start?  The good news is that the internet now gives you access to a wealth of information about cosmetic plastic surgery.    You can research the procedures available and actually read the experiences of actual patients.  It is important to not try every new procedure before they have had some time to work the kinks out.   Check out patient reviews, the company websites as well as the practice websites.  Compare each procedure with other procedures as well as between practices. Nonsurgical Procedures Plastic surgery procedures run the gamut from full blown surgery to comfortable, noninvasive procedures.   Today patients are less tolerant of big scars, crazy prices, downtime, pain and unnatural results.  More and more plastic surgery patients are even less crazy about the risks of general anesthesia or ‘going under’.   The market has responded and there are an increasing number of less invasive and nonsurgical procedures.  Skin can be tightened with heat via radiofrequency and laser applied outside of the body.  Fat can be reduced by using laser energy and freezing it with cryolipolysis or Coolsculpting. Tumescent Anesthesia Even invasive procedures like liposuction, tummy tucks, fat transfer and breast augmentation have evolved to be safer.  Tumescent anesthesia which involves the use of a lidocaine solution injected under the skin, has revolutionized cosmetic plastic surgery.  Patients can now stay safely awake during their procedures and completely eliminate the risk of general anesthesia.  Tumescent anesthesia also reduces infection and bleeding risks and allows the patient to have a faster, and less painful recovery. Smart Lipo Smart Lipo is the brand name of a laser used to assist liposuction.  The laser is designed to add heat to the treated area via a tiny laser fiber.  The light from the laser is absorbed by blood, skin, water and fat as heat.  This heat then causes the desired effects.  The Smart Lipo laser heat absorbed by blood leads to coagulation and less bleeding and bruising.  The laser heat absorbed by the fat cells causes them to melt and allows more fat removal.  The most important effect is caused by the smart lipo heat absorbed by water and skin which leads to skin tightening. How can Smart Lipo help me? Smart Lipo can allow your cosmetic surgeon to give you better results.  Although not a substitute for training and experience, the Smart Lipo laser can significantly improve your outcome.  Studies have shown Smart Lipo patients have faster recoveries with less downtime, bruising and complications.  Furthermore, the application of precise heating allows for better body contouring, smoother results and tighter skin.  Smart Lipo is a powerful tool in the right hands. Is Smart Lipo safe? Smart Lipo is performed in-office under local anesthesia.  Small incisions are made a lidocaine solution is slowly infused into the fat layer.  This solution produces numbness, prevents bleeding and lifts the fat and skin off the lower layers.  By avoiding general anesthesia, the risks of the procedure are dramatically lowered.  Even more, the lower layers like muscle, nerves, abdominal wall, organs, etc., still have sensation during the procedure.  If the surgeon even comes close to these important structures, the patient would stop the procedure.  This produces an even further layer of safety during the procedure. The Smart Lipo laser produces heat that can cause burns.  In experienced hands, these should be very rare. How do I learn more about Smart Lipo? A consultation with a cosmetic surgeon is necessary when considering Smart Lipo.  Your doctor can assess the amount of fat you need removed as well as the overall looseness of your skin.  Excess amounts of fat or fat inside the abdomen may require weight loss prior to any procedure.  Large amounts of loose skin may require an excision for skin for optimal results.  All of these decisions can be made during your consultation.  Smart Lipo Austin TX Dr Lawrence Broder MD at Beleza Med Spa has performed over 1000 Smart Lipo Laser liposuction procedures.  He is one of the leading Smart Lipo Austin providers.  He possesses the technical as well as the artistic skills to give you the body contouring results you desire.  Schedule a free consultation to see if Smart Lipo can help you.    …

Fraxel

What is Fraxel? Fraxel is a brand name for a new type of laser technology developed in 2001.  The technology involved the refinement of the CO2 laser.  The Co2 laser had been the gold standard for laser resurfacing treatments.   The light generated by the CO2 laser is highly absorbed by water, which is what skin is mostly made of.  As a result, the CO2 laser would vaporize the outer layer of skin it treated.  This would remove all signs of visible sun damage and aging.  The results were great but the patient was left with an open, burn-type wound to deal with after the procedure.  Healing took weeks and patients were prone to infections and complications.  The procedure required general anesthesia and pain was significant. Fraxel brought a new wrinkle to the CO2 laser.  It fractionated the laser beam, breaking it into millions of tiny beams in a grid.  The point of the Fraxel laser was that these microscopic pulses of light treated small volumes of the skin, leaving untreated areas between them.  The advantages of this approach were many.  By leaving untreated skin between the treatment zone, the outer layer of skin remained intact.  This skin acts as a natural dressing, protecting the underlying structures until the new skin is ready. The untouched cells in the intact skin could also participate in healing.  This decreased pain, downtime and complications. How does Fraxel work? The treatment zones of the fraxel laser actually vaporize the skin.  These areas allow the skin to refill them with new collagen, the building block of the skin.  The areas surrounding the treatment zones absorbs a lot of heat too.  This causes their collagen to eventually  be rebuilt and tighten.  The results are a new outer layer of skin within 3-4 days of the treatment.  The new skin is a shiny, pink that eventually resolves into a smooth surface.  The even more exciting part of the Fraxel laser is the skin tightening.  The fractionated laser beams penetrate deep into the lower layer of the skin, the dermis.  This is where the collagen is made and the heat stimulates new collagen and tightening which starts 3-4 weeks after the procedure. What is an ablative laser? An ablative laser remove skin during the treatment.  The skin is usually vaporized into smoke.  This allows for removal of sun damage and signs of aging and maximal results.  A nonablative laser does not remove skin.  The heat is delivered into the skin to cause coagulation of the collagen as well as stimulation of new collagen.   A new skin surface is not produced, but skin tightening is. What is DOT Therapy? DOT therapy is the brand name of the Fractional CO2 laser like Fraxel, that Beleza Med Spa uses.  Patients with acne scars, wrinkles, rough skin, brown spots and loose skin are are perfect candidates for this laser resurfacing procedure.  If you are looking for bang for your buck, a Fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing with Fraxel or DOT Therapy in unrivaled.…
