How does LaserBodySculpting work?
This laser-assisted lipolysis procedure is performed using a one millimeter cannula (or tube) inserted into the skin. A laser fiber inside of the cannula delivers laser energy directly to fat cells, causing them to rupture and drain away as liquid. Simultaneously, tissue around the area coagulates, resulting in overall tighter skin tissue.   Dr Broder has acquired the SmartLipo MPX, the strongest laser in Austin and can melt more fat and tighten more skin, in less time!

What areas of the body can be treated?
Smartlipo LaserbodySculpting is ideal for the neck, jawline, arms, breasts, "bra fat,"abdomen, "love handles," "saddle bags," inner and outer thighs and knees. Several body areas can be treated in one session depending on the amount of fat to be removed.

Am I a candidate?
Smartlipo LaserbodySculpting is meant for areas that do not respond to diet or exercise. The perfect candidate is in good health and close to normal body weight. This is not a weight-loss procedure but more of a body contouring that will result in the loss of inches and clothes sizes.  We remove the fat from the areas where it matters the most giving you noticeable results!

How does Smartlipo LaserbodySculpting compare to conventional liposuction?
Conventional liposuction is meant to remove greater amounts of fat. Usually done in the operating room, it requires general anesthesia.  Due to the risk of anesthesia, time is of the essence and larger instruments are used to speed fat removal.  As a result, irregularities are more frequent and loose, stretched-out skin is not treated. Smartlipo is performed in office, under safer local anesthesia.  We use smaller instruments to finely sculpt and contour the body.  Finally, the Smartlipo laser tightens the skin after the fat is removed.

Is there a recovery period?
Smartlipo LaserbodySculpting is a minimally invasive procedure which usually requires only local anesthesia and several 3-4mm incisions.  There are no sutures and the incisions are left open to encourage drainage over the first couple of days.  There is some soreness and swelling afterwards, but most patients return to work in 3-4 days.  Exercise can be resumed within the first week.

How many treatments are required?
Typically only one treatment is required.  Once the procedure is completed, the fat cells are permanently removed from your body.   Results can be seen within 1-2 days, with continued improvement over three to six months. A compression garment may be worn for a short period after treatment, depending on the body area treated.



What is tumescent liposuction?
With tumescent liposuction, large volumes of a saline solution containing dilute lidocaine (a local anesthetic) and dilute epinephrine (a drug to shrink capillaries and prevent blood loss) are injected with minimal discomfort directly into areas of excessive fatty deposits. The tumescent fluid completely numbs the skin and fat and lifts these layers off the muscles so they can be accessed. Once the liquid is injected, a small incision is made in the skin, and a tube connected to a vacuum is inserted into the fatty layer. Using to and fro movements the fat is drawn through the tube into a collection system. The tumescent method enables the surgeon to remove large amounts of fat more uniformly with fewer skin irregularities and less bleeding and bruising. We combine tumescent liposuction and smartlipo laser liposuction for superior results and quicker recovery.
